West Penn Park

March 20, 2014

York’s West Penn Park received new equipment and renovations as part of a multi-phase plan to improve the park and offer new activities for city residents. A small army of 50 determined citizens and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources employees descended upon the park and installed a new playground unit designated for children 2-5 years old. They also spread mulch under the existing play equipment and cleaned up the park grounds.

The following year, a larger unit, designed for older children, was constructed. It provides lots of “high climbing,” two types of water features, and a history fence that highlights the park’s rich past. A Keystone Fund grant assisted with the construction of both units.
