New Hanover Community Park

Township Recreation Director
New Hanover Community Park happens to be my favorite park in the township. It offers so many activities and amenities, including basketball, baseball, Frisbee golf, hockey, a walking trail, and a fenced-in playground. Dogs are allowed in the park on a leash, which enables me and my dog Max to enjoy the park. Its location is perfect because it sits in the back of a development on a cul-de-sac, so it is private but is still close to a main road, which makes it easy to find and very accessible.
Our park is successful because of the community that surrounds it. It is used for 5k races and walks to benefit nonprofits, car shows, Frisbee golf tournaments, hot air balloon excursions, Pine Forge Baseball, Moms Club meetings, nursery school picnics, family reunions, athletic team parties, and graduation parties. It is used by local residents as well as the residents of surrounding townships.
Our township Easter Egg Hunt is held there every year. Hundreds of children come out to participate. It is a free event. The Easter Bunny visits that day to greet the children and pose for pictures. The Recreation Committee stuffs over 4,000 eggs with candy, money, and prizes for the children to find. Our police chief gives the signal every year for the children to start. The hunt is over in just a few minutes, but the smiles last for much longer!
I always recommend this park to anyone who is looking for a rental or just a relaxing stroll. New Hanover is very fortunate to have such a beautiful park that brings so much happiness to its visitors!
